West Nile Virus

West Nile Virus

I haven’t yet found a mosquito that knows where a boundary is.1 Their need is to find a place to lay eggs and feed. This happens especially in damp, wet places such as small bodies of still water. These insects are not aware of crossing provincial or international boundary lines on their journey to a perfect habitat. West Nile Virus is now here to stay.

The media, now reporting on the crisis of West Nile is affecting the entire population, especially teens. They are now taking precautions to protect themselves from endangering their health. Teens most often hear and watch news on what the update is on West Nile. They also gossip about this disease which have caused the virus to be the main talk of the day. Broadcasts shown on television have had juveniles express themselves in public on how they feel. Most of the reports have them speaking on their opinions. Therefore the media is reporting on the virus the way they see it.

The media had shown pictures of how the West Nile Virus has been dealt with by the government, which has stirred up emotions in many teens. They have now tried to reason with the administration on how to deal with the situation. For example, in some places the authorities have sprayed a pesticide in trees. Well the public is arguing that they sprayed them, and their property and practically everything else. The “pre-adults” particularly have been very aggressive on what they want the government to do to handle the virus. They also have been quarreling very emotionally since they are all being affected. Despite all their efforts, the teens are no match against the government. All of this occurred because the media has shown the population the real way the government is dealing with the situation.

The media has really outdone itself this time by showing the public the real way this virus is being handled. Now the population, specifically teens are bracing themselves for the next big health hazard following SARS.
